It was West’s first season as a soccer coach after he spent the previous five years coaching football and basketball at McCrory High School.

“I’m looking forward to it,” West said of the all-star game. “I’ve never had that opportunity before. … It’s just going to be a fun day.”

Wilson’s Lady Tigers finished 9-7 this season, including 6-0 in conference play. Green Forest reached the second round of the Class 3A state tournament.

“I have 30 years experience in soccer,” Wilson said. “I started out playing when I was 5 or 6, so getting to have this experience is something I would have never thought possible. I’m truly excited and honored.”
