A Green Forest school bus was involved in an accident on Thursday, May 2.

Superintendent Matt Summers said the Route 15 bus driven by John Kemp was involved in an accident while taking students home from school. Students were safe, he said, but arrived home a little later.

“There were no injuries to any party,” Summers said. “We’re very fortunate all the way around.”

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office responded to the accident and arrested the driver who rear-ended the bus. According to the Carroll County Detention Center’s daily intake log, Charles Leonard Cox, 24, of Winslow was booked into the jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and careless and prohibited driving.

Summers said the school district was found not to be at fault in the accident. He said Kemp was taken to the hospital for a routine analysis according to district procedure.

“We’re so thankful no one was injured,” Summers said.
