Murder suspects arrested in Arizona
Two murder suspects with local connections to Carroll County have been arrested in Arizona.
Authorities initially believed that Shane Martin, 41, and Marietta Hope Keeter, 29, might be returning to Carroll County, but the two were arrested Wednesday in Tucson, Ariz.
Martin and Keeter were booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Complex on charges of first-degree murder.
The investigation began after deputies conducting a welfare check on the night of Friday, April 26, discovered the body of 73-year-old Julia Rankin. The victim had obvious signs of trauma, according to a news release issued by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
The sheriff’s department confirmed that Rankin was Martin’s mother.
