Playoff loss to Panthers ends Bobcats' season

The Berryville Bobcats’ 2019 soccer season ended with a 2-1 loss at Clarksville on Wednesday in the first round of the 4A West District Tournament.
But Berryville coach Jesse Frost was proud of his team’s effort in its final game of the season.
“Last time, we lost 4-1,” Frost said, referring to his team’s first meeting this season with the Panthers. “This time, we’re a blown call away from going to (penalty kicks). We played a lot better.”
Senior Brian Tovar scored the only goal for the Bobcats, who finished 8-9-3 and will miss the state tournament one year after playing in the Class 4A state championship game. Clarksville scored the winning goal on a corner kick in the second half.
Berryville was coming off a home victory last Friday over Dardanelle — the Sand Lizards’ only conference loss of the season.
“That showed us that we could play with anybody in the conference,” Frost said. “We came out ready to play.”
