The Berryville Lady Bobcats made their first appearance in the Class 4A state softball tournament a year ago.

If there is to be a return trip this season, the journey starts on Tuesday.

No. 4 seed Berryville (12-10, 4-3 4A-1) faces No. 5 seed Gentry (12-7, 2-5) at 4 p.m. in the first round of the 4A-1 District Tournament at Farmington. Tuesday’s game will be played at Farmington, with the final two rounds of the tournament at Gentry on Thursday and Friday.

A first-round victory would assure the Lady Bobcats a berth in the 4A North Regional Tournament that begins May 2 at Farmington.

Berryville defeated Gentry 13-9 on April 11 in Berryville.

In their final regular-season game, the Lady Bobcats lost 6-1 to visiting Pea Ridge on Friday.

Berryville had just two hits in the loss. The Lady Bobcats’ only run came in the bottom of the seventh inning, when senior first baseman Hayley Rivett hit her team-high seventh home run of the season.
