Clarksville takes control early, but Bobcats respond
There wasn’t much suspense in last Thursday’s game between the visiting Berryville Bobcats and the Clarksville Panthers.
Clarksville scored three goals in the first 15 minutes and went on to beat Berryville 4-1.
For Berryville coach Jesse Frost, however, there was some solace in the way his team responded to the early deficit.
“We did a really good job in the second half,” Frost said. “It was a learning experience for us.”
Junior Manny Tellez scored the only goal for Berryville (6-8-3, 2-4 4A West).
The Bobcats will close out the regular season with road games at Gentry on Tuesday and at Dardanelle on Friday.
Frost said Berryville will be a No. 5 or No. 6 seed in next week’s district tournament and will play its first-round game on its opponent’s home field.
He hopes the Clarksville game will help sharpen the Bobcats for postseason play.
“We’re going to have to beat a team like that to make the state tournament,” Frost said.
