Show-Me State Split: Lady Bobcats win one of two against Missouri teams
The Berryville Lady Bobcats hosted a pair of opponents from the Show Me State early this week, with mixed results.
Hollister, Mo., defeated Berryville 13-9 on Monday, but the Lady Bobcats bounced back to defeat Blue Eye, Mo., 13-5 on Tuesday.
Sophomore Lora Grace Hill provided an offensive spark in the victory over Blue Eye with three hits, four runs batted in and a run scored. Hill had a pair of RBI doubles and drove in two runs with a seventh-inning single as the Lady Bobcats scored four times to give themselves some breathing room.
Junior Kate Powell also had three hits for Berryville, driving in one run and scoring two. Seniors Hayley Rivett and Maleah Bryant added two hits apiece for the Lady Bobcats, with Bryant scoring three times. Sophomore Lexi Woods had two hits and scored twice, and junior Eve Linz scored three runs.
Senior Taylor Kelley earned the pitching victory, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits while striking out four batters and walking none in 4 1/3 innings.
In the loss to Hollister, Berryville fell behind 7-0 going into the bottom of the third. The Lady Bobcats scored four runs in the fifth to pull within 10-7 but Hollister scored three times in the seventh.
Linz had two hits and drove in a pair of runs for Berryville while Woods drove in three runs, including a two-run triple in the fifth, and scored twice. Junior Anna Caroline Stone also scored two runs for the Lady Bobcats.
Berryville’s home game against Pea Ridge was rained out on Thursday. It will be played on Friday, which will be Senior Night for the Lady Bobcats.
