Colbert leads Bobcats past Lincoln
The Berryville Bobcats sometimes score runs in bunches, and sometimes they struggle to score at all.
That was the case again this week, as the Bobcats beat visiting Lincoln 14-5 on Monday before losing to Shiloh Christian 12-0 at home the following day.
Berryville (8-8, 1-6 4A-1) has scored 10 runs or more eight times this season but has been shut out five times and twice has been held to one run.
Senior Rusty Colbert led the Berryville offense in the victory over Lincoln. Colbert had five hits — including a double and two triples. He drove in two runs and scored five.
Sophomore Jarrett Stringer added three hits for Berryville with two runs scored and an RBI. Senior Braden Logan had two hits, drove in a run and scored twice. Senior Ethan Gregory drove in two runs and scored two more. Sophomore Tanner Rosales drove in a pair of runs and scored one.
Berryville finished with 13 hits and was credited with six stolen bases, including two by Colbert.
Four pitchers worked for Berryville, allowing five runs on 11 hits while striking out six and walking none.
In the five-inning loss to Shiloh Christian, Berryville had just one hit — a fifth-inning single by junior Austin Woods.
Berryville’s scheduled game against Pea Ridge was rained out Thursday afternoon and will be played on Friday.
