Berryville boys, girls shut out Huntsville
Junior Manny Tellez scored a hat trick as Berryville defeated visiting Huntsville 8-0 Tuesday in a 4A-West soccer matchup.
Berryville took control early, racing out to a 7-0 lead by halftime.
In addition to three goals from Tellez, the Bobcats also got goals from juniors Jesus Perez and Robert Quiquivix — Berryville’s starting goaltender — and seniors Carlos Garduno, Nathan Engel and Brian Tovar.
Perez also had three assists. Juniors Armando Mojica and Robert Marts added two assists apiece for the Bobcats, and Tovar also had an assist.
Quiquivix was credited with two saves as Berryville recorded the shutout.
Berryville (6-7-3, 2-3 4A West) played at Clarksville on Thursday. The Bobcats will travel to Gentry on Tuesday before finishing the regular season at home against Dardanelle on Friday, April 26.
Berryville 9, Huntsville 0
There wasn’t much suspense for the Berryville Lady Bobcats on Tuesday as they hosted Huntsville.
Berryville scored five goals in the first five minutes and eight before halftime in a 9-0 victory.
“Huntsville is down from where they’ve been,” Berryville coach Aaron Hall said. “Their kids played hard; they’re just down a little bit.”
Berryville took full advantage, with eight players scoring goals for the Lady Bobcats. Senior Karleigh Giles had two goals, with the others coming from seniors Maryn Jones and Vicky Villatoro, juniors Taylor Swofford, Natalia Hernandez and Alicia Mendoza and freshmen Olivia Morfin and Shelby Newby.
The Lady Bobcats (8-8, 2-3 4A-West) played at Clarksville on Thursday. Berryville will host Gentry on Monday for Senior Night before closing out the regular season on Friday, April 26, at home against Dardanelle
