Valley Springs sweeps Tigers in doubleheader

The Green Forest Tigers dropped a doubleheader to visiting Valley Springs on Friday.

Valley Springs won the opener 15-7, then took the nightcap 11-1.

Sophomore Reiley Gordon had two of the Tigers’ four hits in the first game. Gordon and junior Jacob McMahan each scored two runs. McMahan and junior Micah Hutchison each drove in one run for Green Forest. Five Tigers were hit by pitches during the game.

Green Forest had two hits in the second game — one from McMahan and one from freshman Barrett Phillips. Freshman Isaac Demeyer scored the Tigers’ only run.

Green Forest (4-11, 2-7 3A-1) will host Clinton on Tuesday and Marshall on Thursday before closing out the regular season Friday at Berryville.

In softball, Valley Springs scored 10 runs in the first inning and beat the Lady Tigers 18-2 in four innings last Thursday.

The Lady Tigers (4-7, 3-6) will also host host Clinton on Tuesday and Marshall on Thursday before playing at Berryville on Friday in the final game of the regular season.
