Hat tricks help Bobcats dominate Highlanders

The Berryville Bobcats soccer team looked sharp Monday in its first game after spring break.
Led by hat tricks from senior Brian Tovar and junior Robert Quiquivix, the Bobcats beat Eureka Springs 9-1 at Bobcat Stadium.
“It was a good first game back,” Berryville coach Jesse Frost said. “A lot of guys got playing time.”
Tovar scored all three of his goals in the first half as Berryville jumped out to a 6-0 lead.
Quiquivix, the Bobcats’ starting goalkeeper, got a chance to go on the offensive in the second half. He scored all three of Berryville’s goals after intermission.
“He had a good time,” Frost said. “He was telling us that he’s going to be a striker. He’s a pretty funny kid.”
Senior Zackery Nelson scored in the second half for Eureka Springs off an assist from classmate Kayden Eckman.
On Tuesday, the Bobcats played a non-conference game at Prairie Grove that ended in a 2-2 tie.
Berryville led 2-1 at intermission before a late Prairie Grove goal forced the tie.
“Prairie Grove is a lot better than they were last year,” Frost said.
Berryville (5-3-2) will host Prairie Grove on Tuesday, April 2. That game will count in the conference standings.
