Lady Bobcats beat Eureka Springs before road loss
By Scott Loftis
The Berryville Lady Bobcats are still making some adjustments on the soccer field, so coach Aaron Hall wasn’t too upset with a 2-1 loss in a nonconference game Tuesday at Prairie Grove.
“Prairie Grove is improved,” Hall said. “We’re still trying to move some pieces around. We’re doing a few things new and when you have some change, it takes time.”
Senior Vicky Villatoro scored Berryville’s only goal on a corner kick.
“It was pretty impressive,” Hall said.
The loss at Prairie Grove came one day after the Lady Bobcats recorded an 8-1 home victory over Eureka Springs at Bobcat Stadium.
In that game, Hall said, Berryville initially had some trouble getting the ball in the net.
“I think we’d had 15 shots on goal before we finally got one in,” he said. “Once we scored one, it seemed like the floodgates just opened.”
Senior Maryn Jones recorded a hat trick in the victory, while senior Karleigh Giles and junior Natalia Hernandez added two goals apiece.
The Lady Bobcats (5-4) will play a conference game Friday at Shiloh Christian.
“The most important game of the week is Friday,” Hall said. “We can be down or mad about losing to Prairie Grove, but Friday’s game is the one we need to be thinking about.”
