Calvary Christian students excel at regional convention

Calvary Christian Academy students recently attended the Regional Student Convention in Warrensburg, Mo. These students competed against other A.C.E. students in events including academics, art, platform, music and athletics. These six students brought home a combined total of 31 medals and received a command performance in front of the entire Convention body for their Small Vocal Ensemble.

• Scrapbooking — First Place (Lainey Villines)

• Vocal Duet — Second Place ( Emma Best and Destin Writer)

• Vocal Solo — Second Place (Bethany Phillippe)

• Clown Act — Second Place (Whitney Jones)

• 400 Meter Relay — Second Place (Emma Best, Whitney Jones, Bethany Phillippe, and Lainey Villines)

• Monochromatic Still Life — Second Place (Lainey Villines)

• 100 Meter Dash — Third Place (Whitney Jones)

• Pastels — Third Place (Whitney Jones)

• Piano Solo — Fourth Place (Lainey Villines)

• Acrylics — Fifth Place (Emma Best)

• One-Act Play — Fifth Place (Emma Best, Colton Jones, Bethany Phillippe, Lainey Villines and Destin Writer)

Emma Best, Lainey Villines and Destin Writer earned recognition for a Cap Award.

To be eligible for a CAP Award a student must have placed in the top 15 in the four required areas of academics, art, platform and music.
