DELORIS J. SWOFFORD, of Berryville, Arkansas, was born December 1, 1949 in Harrison, Arkansas, to Robert Gene and Betty Jean (Villines) Swallow. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Thursday, March 14, 2019 in Springfield, Missouri at the age of 69 years.
Deloris was the secretary for the Berryville Police Department for 32 years. She was a member of Southern Heights Baptist Church. She loved her church family and the children she taught in Awanas. In her spare time, she enjoyed flower gardening, going to the beach and most of all spending time with her family.
On December 10, 1983, she was united in marriage with Gerry Lee Swofford, who survives her. She is also survived by four daughters, Jennifer Robertson (Shawn), Julie Baker (Greg), Kimberly Childers (Steve), and Jessica Swofford; one son, Jason Swofford; her mother, Betty Jean Swallow; two brothers, Bobby Swallow (Beverly), and John Doyle Swallow; one sister, Susanne McMillan (Jim); nine grandchildren, Zachary Davis and (Meg), Dustin Robertson, McKenzie Ruiz, Chloe Swofford, Marley Swofford, Natalie Swofford, Luke Swofford, Sylvia Childers and Ella Childers; numerous other relatives, loved ones and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Gene Swallow, Sr.
Visitation will be Monday, March 18, 2019, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel in Berryville. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at the Southern Heights Baptist Church in Berryville with Pastor Keith Moore officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Hale Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.
