ERVIN E. JOHNSON, of Berryville, Arkansas, was born February 18, 1934 in Berryville to Carl and Cara (Summers) Johnson. He departed this life March 13, 2019 in Berryville at the age of 85 years.
Ervin was of the Christian faith and enjoyed working with his border collies on the farm. He showed horses for over 35 years and was a member of the Missouri Fox Trotter and Horse Breeder Association. Ervin and his wife won the Jr. Dairy Award in 1951 and 1952 and Farm Family of the Year in 1962. He also won several awards for top production milk producer in Arkansas. Ervin loved his family and friends and enjoyed life in general. At an early age he knew what he wanted to do and did it to the best of his ability. Ervin will be missed deeply by all who knew him.
On June 9, 1954, he was united in marriage with Velma Louise (Swofford) Johnson who survives him. He is also survived by his son, Martin E. Johnson and his wife, Tamara, of Berryville; three grandchildren, Rachel Hurst, Jennifer Wilson and James Berry; three great-grandchildren, Byron Hurst, Lyla Wilson and Kyle Wilson; two nieces, Marketa Allen and Vicky Arnall; Ervinís border collies, Sid and Bear; many other relatives and loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Cara Johnson.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 17, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel in Berryville. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 18, 2019 at the Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel with Brother Dale Merideth officiating. Interment will follow the service in the High Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.
