Leslee Young

Monday, March 11, 2019

Leslee “Sue” Young, 72, of Green Forest, Ark. departed this life and entered Heaven’s gates on Thursday, Mar. 7, 2019. Sue Sue, as she was called by family and friends, was born in Los Angeles, Calif. on June 1, 1946, daughter of Les and Wilberta (Billee) Cobler Shaffer.

Sue Sue was a licensed beautician and was employed for 25 years at Mildred’s Beauty Shop in Green Forest. She later worked at Coast-to-Coast, Bob’s Supermarket, and Tanner’s True Value Hardware Store.

Sue was diagnosed with lung cancer in February of 2017. She spent the next three months at the Washington Regional Cancer Support Home in Fayetteville, with her daughter, due to not being able to travel back and forth for her treatments. This place holds a dear place in the hearts of her family as it was not only instrumental in her physical healing, but in her spiritual healing as well, as this is where she accepted The Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior.

Sue Sue was a devoted mother, daughter, and proud grandmother. She spent several years caring for her father until he passed, then caring for her mother until she physically couldn’t any more. She was a wonderful example of what a caregiver should be. She cherished any opportunity she had to spend time with her family. She enjoyed camping, fishing, going out to eat, and her two cats. She could be found at any sporting event or rodeo cheering on her children and grandchildren. She was a proud Tiger fan and many friends of her grandchildren considered her their Sue Sue, especially when she would run up town to get them food for lunch!

Sue Sue is survived by her daughter, Devon Williams and husband Kevin of Berryville; granddaughters, Kenley and Lexey Williams of Berryville; grandson, Braden Young Newberry of Green Forest; ex-husband and father of her children, Ronald Young of Gentry, Ark.; her close cousin, Judy Walker, and a host of other family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her son, Jason Young; and one brother, Michael Shaffer. The family finds comfort that she will be reunited with her family in Heaven, especially her son, whom she has missed dearly.

Celebration of Life will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Mar. 12, 2019 at Smith Family Funeral Home in Green Forest with interment following at Glenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday, Mar. 11, 2019 at Smith Family Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Washington Regional Cancer Support Home, 1101 N. Woolsey Ave. Fayetteville, AR 72703.
