The Berryville softball team had the best season in program history last year, finishing 21-10 and reaching the quarterfinals of the Class 4A State Tournament.

That team had just two seniors on the roster, so expectations are high for coach Josh Hatfield’s team in 2019.

So far, so good for the Lady Bobcats who christened their new home field with a 15-0 victory in four innings last Friday over visiting Flippin.

Berryville pounded out 14 hits in 24 at-bats, led by a 3-for-3 performance from sophomore Lora Grace Hill, who also drove in three runs and scored three times.

Senior Hayley Rivett had two hits, two runs and two RBI; sophomore Lexi Woods had two hits, two runs and an RBI; and junior Kate Powell had two hits, an RBI and a run scored.

Senior pitcher Taylor Kelley allowed no hits and two walks while striking out five batters in three innings, and freshman Faith Kelley struck out one and walked one in one inning.

“We’re expecting good things,” Hatfield said. “They’re really a together group. They really enjoy each other. They have a lot of experience and they enjoy being on the field.”

Berryville’s game against Huntsville on Thursday has been posponed. The Lady Bobcats will host Clinton at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
