Bailey leads Green Forest to win in opener
The Green Forest Tigers wasted no time getting their 2019 baseball season off to a swinging start.
The Tigers scored four runs in the top of the first inning and went on to a 13-3 six-inning victory at Marshall on Friday, March 1.
Senior Hayden Bailey shined at the plate and on the mound. He had three hits, four RBI and two runs scored while allowing two hits and two runs with 10 strikeouts and one walk in four innings of work as a pitcher.
Sophomore Reiley Gordon pitched the final two innings for the Tigers, allowing one run on one hit and five walks while striking out two.
Juniors Jacob McMahan and Jackson Tibbetts each had three of Green Forestís 16 hits. McMahan drove in two runs and Tibbetts one.
Green Forest will play in this weekendís Carroll County Tournament at Berryville.
The Green Forest softball team also won its opener at Marshall, 7-6. The Lady Tigers are scheduled to host Pea Ridge on Tuesday.
