Friday, February 22, 2019

The Eureka Springs Lady Highlanders season came to an end Thursday night with a 40-30 loss to Danville in the first round of the 2A West Regional Tournament, but the future looks bright.

Under first-year coach Ryan Sanchez, the Lady Highlanders improved from 6-23 a season ago to 23-14 and won the 2A-1 regular-season conference championship despite not having a senior on their roster.

Against Danville, the Lady Highlanders trailed 27-20 at halftime. They got within three points, at 31-28 on a basket by junior forward Shelby Little, but Danville finished the game on a 9-2 run.

Junior forward Megan Holloway led Eureka Springs with 14 points. Little added 10.
