Charles (Charlie) Wayne Davis was born January 5, 1934 in Tecumseh, Oklahoma to Fred O. and Helen (Furbee) Davis. After graduating from Dale High School in 1951, Charlie joined the fight in Korea as a United States Marine. In March 1967, he married Joanie Fugate who would become the love of his lifetime. They spent the next 43 years playing golf, vacationing with friends in Mexico and playing cards. Charlie’s true passion, though, was fishing. In March of 2011, his beloved Joanie lost her final fight with cancer and went to be with the Lord. Since then Charlie spent his mornings delivering donuts to various businesses and sitting on his porch talking to the passersby. In 2017, Charlie moved to the US Veterans Home in Fayetteville where he became a quick favorite with the staff through his happy spirit and welcoming smile. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Helen, brothers Jim and Buddy, and sister Claudine Taylor as well as his loving wife, Joanie. He is survived by his son and his wife, Greg and Kris Davis of Holiday Island, daughter Meloni Lyon of Canada, and son Mark Davis of Canada. He is also survived by grandchildren, Megan Morgan and husband, Sam, of Fayetteville, Charlie Davis of Berryville and Jazzie Lyons of Canada. We will miss you Charlie, Dad, Papa. There are people in this in whom we embrace their memory for a lifetime, you are one of those people. Rest in peace, we love you.
