James W. Sherwood, age 66, of Shell Knob, Missouri, passed away Thursday, January 24, 2019 at his home.
He was born in California on March 29, 1952. On May 21, 1976 at Viola Baptist Church he was united in marriage to Mary “LaVeta” McCullough, who preceded him in death on June 21, 2017. Also preceding him in death were his parents.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Sherwood and his wife Jenifer of Shell Knob, Missouri and William Sherwood of Arkansas; two daughters. April Abney and her husband Robert of Conway, Arkansas and Melody Bull and her husband Mike of North Carolina; one sister, Dorthey Klunk and her husband Scott of Harrison, Arkansas and nine grandchildren.
James received his education in Alpena, Arkansas where he graduated from high school. Thirty-seven years ago he moved to Shell Knob, Missouri from Green Forest, Arkansas to make his home. For several years was employed at Tyson’s in the sanitation department. James enjoyed fishing, watching wrestling and was a very hardworking man. He was a member of Viola Baptist Church in Viola, Missouri.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Viola Baptist Church, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Shell Knob. Pastor Scott Chisholm will conduct the services. Burial will be at McCullough Cemetery in Viola.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. at Viola Baptist Church.
