Highlanders win 8th straight game

Friday, January 18, 2019

It took the Eureka Springs Highlanders a full half of basketball Tuesday night to figure out the best way to defend the Kingston Yellowjackets.

Once they did, however, the Highlanders took control and went on to their eighth consecutive victory, beating Kingston 57-48.

“They’re just so physical and so big and play so hard,” Eureka Springs coach Brian Rambo said of Kingston. “We made some adjustments at halftime and we played a really good third quarter. We finally got some stops.”

After leading just 27-26 at halftime, Eureka Springs outscored Kingston 16-8 in the third quarter to open up a nine-point cushion.

Freshman guard Matthew Lester led the Highlanders (22-5, 4-1 1A-1) with 20 points while senior guard Garrett Cross added 14.

Eureka Springs will travel to Decatur on Friday.
