Franklin Wicks Sr.
FRANKLIN D. WICKS, SR., a resident of Holiday Island, Arkansas, was born July 10, 1929, son of George and Norma (Lindgren) Wicks. He departed this life Friday, January 11, 2019, in Holiday Island at the age of 89 years.
Franklin was a member of the Holiday Island Community Church and Holiday Island Elks Lodge #1042. He loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his nine children, daughter, Colleen Epperson of St. Petersburg, Florida; son, Frank Wicks and wife, Elvesta, of Chesterfield, Missouri; daughter, Sharon Ebert of Santa Fe, New Mexico; son, George Wicks and wife, Genece, of Norman, Oklahoma; son, Fred Ebert and wife, Pamela, of Naperville, Illinois; daughter, Patty Ann Nootz of Omaha, Nebraska; daughter, Barbara Mitchell of Broadus, Montana; son, Bill Ebert and wife, Linda, of Clearfield, Utah; daughter, Katherine Lockhart and husband, George, of Hookstown, Pennsylvania; nineteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and a host of friends and loved ones.
Franklin was a World War II veteran and spent 23 years in the Naval Reserves. He had a very successful career as a metallurgical engineer. He enjoyed a wide variety of hobbies including model airplanes and stained glass.
On October 5, 1968, he was united in marriage with Jane “Ginny” Wicks who preceded him in death. He is also preceded by his parents and one brother, Norman Wicks.
