Friends dedicated to helping library

Tuesday, October 30, 2018

Dear Editor,

I have great news for all those who love Berryville: The Friends of the Berryville Library is back!

In May 2017, the Friends of the Library was reorganized after being inactive for over 20 years. Since then, we have grown to over 80 members and raised over $22,000 to help support the Berryville Library.

Many people in our community rely on the library for valuable educational programs and services, technological resources, and materials that are not available anywhere else in Berryville. Last year the Berryville Library served 90,000 visitors and hosted 500 programs in the same limited space it has had since 1990. These numbers will only continue to rise as the library signs up hundreds of new patrons every year.

The Friends are committed to helping the library live effectively within its current space and have funded lobby improvements, new program equipment, and new seating for the library over the last year. We are also looking to the future and helping spearhead the drive to raise money to build a new library facility without raising taxes.

That’s where we need everyone’s help. The library connects so many in our community to the programs, services, and resources that are vital to helping them work towards a better future for themselves.

Please consider becoming a member of the Friends of the Berryville Library today.

Annual sponsorships start at just $10. You can sign up at the library – it is open seven days a week!

Help us work toward a better future for our library so that it can keep up with the needs of a growing Berryville.

Sincerely,

Shirley Rash
