Green Forest enters district tournament as No. 3 seed

The Green Forest volleyball team had a difficult week, losing to Yellville-Summit in four sets at home on Monday and in three sets at Perryville on Tuesday.
The good news for the Lady Tigers, though, is that three victories the previous week assured them of being the third seed in the district tournament next week at Atkins.
“We really needed to be 3-0 last week, and the girls came through,” Green Forest coach Trista Killingsworth said. “We’re very grateful for that.”
Sophomore Maddie Youngblood had seven kills against Yellville-Summit, while seniors Lexey Williams and Kassidy Bell and junior Kiara Taylor added six kills apiece. Taylor also had seven aces and 15 assists and Williams added 11 assists. Junior Stacy Flores had five kills and five aces.
The Lady Tigers officially celebrated Senior Night on Monday, but hosted Eureka Springs on Thursday night in a match that was originally scheduled to be played at Eureka Springs.
Green Forest will open 3A-North District Tournament play with a first-round match against Bergman at 5 p.m. Monday in Atkins. The Lady Tigers are seeded third, and the top three teams from the district tournament will advance to the state tournament, which begins Oct. 23 in Paris.
