BV loses to Harrison
Things didn't go well for the Berryville Lady Bobcat volleyball team on Tuesday in its first conference match of the year at Harrison. The Lady Goblins defeated Berryville, 25-15, 25-14, 25-19.
"There are a bunch of girls on that team who play club volleyball," Berryville coach Kristin Whetham said. "They play year-round. We knew it was going to be a hard game to win. Brooklin Edwards for Harrison, she is a really good player and we couldn't stop her. She is probably one of the best players I have seen in a while and we couldn't do anything to contain her."
Whetham added that the Lady Bobcats can learn from the three-set loss.
"We have got to start playing better together and paying attention," Whetham said. "Focusing on details. Not losing our focus all the way around as a team. That is our issue right now."
Whetham hopes to address these issues in practice.
"We are going to break down our defense and figure out what ball is whose ball," Whetham said. "Who should be going and where we should be rotating to. Offensively, I feel like we are fine as long as we can get the ball passed up to the middle and get a hit. But our biggest weakness right now is our defensive rotation. That comes back to details."
On Thursday, the Lady Bobcats hosted Shiloh Christian in another conference match and Whetham expected that match to be a test for her team.
"Shiloh has a really good player returning from last year," Whetham said. "We are just going to have to get up on the net and contain her. Try to cover the net as much as possible. Don't give her very much of the floor to see so that we are able to play a little bit better defense. Make our defensive positions a little bit easier. We are going to have to be big on the net and pay attention to her."
On Tuesday, Berryville plays at Farmington. The match is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
