Accident closes 62 West

Tuesday, September 11, 2018
Inspiration Point Fire Department personnel responded to a single-vehicle accident Friday afternoon on Highway 62 West. The accident occurred just west of Brushy Ridge, about 1.25 miles east of the Benton County line. The eastbound vehicle left the highway on the south side and traveled about 100 feet parallel to the highway on what appears to be an old roadbed until it hit some rocks, spun 90 degrees and flipped over. The driver was able to get out of the vehicle and climbed up to the roadway where he was evaluated by medical responders from Inspiration Point and Eureka Springs Fire and EMS. The highway was kept open as long as possible, but was ordered closed by Arkansas State Police so the vehicle could be recovered by a wrecker service. The highway remained closed for more than an hour.
