BV Board hires new assistant to Powell
The Berryville School Board shuffled secretaries at a special meeting Thursday, Aug. 23.
The board voted to hire high school secretary Amanda Scitern as the new administrative assistant for the superintendent. The board voted to move Wendy McClellan from elementary school secretary to high school secretary.
“We did some musical chairs there,” said Superintendent Owen Powell. “I think Amanda is going to be a good fit and do a really good job as my administrative assistant, and I think Wendy will be great at the high school.”
He continued, “So now the hard part is to find a replacement at the elementary. We’ve started advertising for that position and taking applications. We’re not going to rush that. We’ll find someone who will be a good fit for [elementary principal] Kelly Swofford.”
The board also voted to approve a restated memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the Connect 4 program.
“We found a mistake in there and had to correct that,” Powell said. “The wording in it said we were going to divide the costs by percentage of students, but for the first year we are strictly splitting everything in thirds between the school districts.”
The board also voted to approve hiring Richard Pepple, Roger Perkins and Claud Warren as substitute bus drivers.
The board’s next regular meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17, in the Intermediate Cafetorium.
