ROSE ALICE SMITH of Green Forest, Arkansas was born on April 12, 1930 in Perry, Oklahoma to Everett and Verlie (Nichols) Shannon. She departed this life on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at the age of 88 years.
Rose moved to Green Forest as a girl, where she met her husband, Ray. On June 3, 1949 she was united in marriage with Ray Smith, Jr, for 51 years. Ray preceded her in death in 2000. She missed Ray dearly but are now reunited. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Verlie Shannon of Green Forest.
Rose spent most of her life in Green Forest, or Pateros, Washington where she worked alongside Ray in the orchards and fruit stands. Rose lived a full life, always singing, humming and seeing the beauty in nature. She mostly enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and her pets. She loved playing card games and usually won, silently smiling as she played the winning hands. Rose was known for her kindness, her gentleness and friendly smile and her love for others. She always put others first. Rose is missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her son, Carl Smith and wife, Brenda of Damascus, Oregon; two daughters, Barbara Smith and Mitch Evans of Chelan, Washington; Susan Rhodes and husband, Robert of Green Forest; five grandchildren, Bobby and wife Taylor, Cassi, Bridgette and Brian Fultz, Kami and Joel Palioca and Kyle; nine great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other loved ones and many friends.
