Berryville Mayor Tim McKinney has filed to seek an eighth term in office.

Carroll County election coordinator Sherry Cochrane McKinney filed as a candidate for mayor on Friday, the first day of the filing period for municipal candidates in the Nov. 6 general election.

McKinney was first elected in November 1990 and has served as mayor of Berryville since Jan. 1, 1991.

Berryville city attorney Clint Scheel also has filed as a candidate for re-election.

On Monday, Jerry D. Carlton filed as a candidate for mayor of Green Forest. The city’s incumbent mayor, Charlie Reece, is the Republican candidate for county judge, challenging Democratic incumbent Sam Barr.

The municipal filing period will continue until noon on Friday, Aug. 17.
