Rex William Tharp, age 83, of Green Forest, AR passed from this life on Sunday, June 10, 2018. He was born on August 9, 1934 in Green Forest to Auburn L. and Ova J. (Shaw) Tharp. Rex attended Green Forest Schools and on November 4, 1962 he was united in marriage with Freida Mae VanWinkle.
Rex was a truck driver, school bus driver, carpenter and farmer. He loved showing his "fox trotter" horses all over Southern Missouri where he won numerous trophies. He was a loving, devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a faithful member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Berryville. Rex was known for speaking his mind, his dry sense of humor and his love for God and mankind. He loved spending his time visiting with family and neighbors who will miss him dearly.
He is survived by his son-in-law, John Tyer of Clinton, AR, grandson, John William Tyer of Choctaw, OK, granddaughter, Kara Brooke Tyer of Clinton, sisters, Betty Howard and husband Joe of Berryville and Janice Daily of Laguna Niguel, CA, and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Freida Tharp, one daughter, Rexalyn Tyer, sisters, Raffaelita Teter, brothers-in-law, Issac Teter and Lee Daily.
Celebration Of Life Service will be 2:00 PM Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Berryville First Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Craig Villines and Brother Wayne Writer officiating. Interment will follow at Pickens Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Smith Family Funeral Home in Green Forest.
