Alvarado to compete in national pageant

Mahalie Alvarado of Green Forest is the reigning Miss Pre-teen Arkansas and will compete in July for Miss Pre-teen United States.

Mahalie is the the 11-year-old daughter of Roel Alvarado and Jessica Martinez. She attends Green Forest Intermediate School. MaHalie enjoys playing softball and basketball and is currently a member of Elite Cheer. She hopes to continue her volunteer work with Operation Gratitude. Operation Gratitude is a nonprofit that collects and send care packages to the men and women serving our country. Mahalie wants to get her community and school more involved in  helping her in her volunteer work. She will be competing for Miss Pre-Teen United States on July 2-7 in Orlando, Fla.

A chicken dinner fundraiser to help pay for Alvarado’s trip to the national pageant will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 15, at the Green Forest Train Depot. The cost is $7 for the meal plus a drink and dessert.
