Postal carriers in Berryville did their part during a national food drive last weekend.

The local carriers collected 2,673 pounds of food on the their routes, Berryville postmaster James Lucas said, as part of the National Association of Letter Carriers’ annual food drive.

“We’ve never collected this much food before,” Lucas said.

Food was collected inside the city of Berryville as well as on seven rural routes serviced by the local post office. The food was then donated to the Loaves and Fishes food band.

The NALC food drive is held every year on the second Saturday in May.
