Ice Cream Social to feature 'Corporate Challenge'

Friday, May 18, 2018

It’s time to lace up your running shoes and start stretching those hamstrings, because the challenge has been thrown down:  Who will step up to take home the title as champion of the Annual 5K Race and winner of the ‘Corporate Challenge’ at the 33rd Annual Ice Cream Social in this year in Berryville ?

This annual 5K race starts on the city’s historic public square at 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 9, and winds its way through the streets of Berryville.

The race has a long tradition and has been a fun part of the annual old-fashioned ice cream social that Berryville has celebrated for more than three decades. This year’s event will be held 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day Friday, June 8, and Saturday, June 9.

You can register for the 5K run online at the website. Simply click on the Ice Cream Social page link at the top of the webpage and then click on the link to go to the online registration sign-up age.

The preregistration price of $25 increases to $30 after June 4.

Speaking of a challenge for bragging rights, it is also time for local companies to sign up their teams to compete for the ‘Corporate Challenge’ award. The entry fee for the Challenge is $17.50 per person for teams larger than six runners.

Contact Katie Swofford for corporate registration. She noted that all teams need to contact her for sign-up registration and get log-in information, as well. E-mail Swofford at:, or call her at 870-423-9195.

Also, the early registration for the fun walk portion of the event is $15; it increases to $20 after the June 4 deadline.

Awards will be presented at the conclusion of the 5K run on Berryville’s Historic Downtown Square.
