GF athletes honored at annual awards banquet

The Green Forest Tigers held their annual athletic banquet on Tuesday at Fred Grim Gym and numerous athletes received awards:

Golf: Outstanding male golfer was Clayton Smith and outstanding female golfer was Ashley Farrar.

Volleyball: The offensive player of the year was Alissa Smith. The defensive player of the year was Stacy Flores. Vanessa Perez won the Tiger Hustle award and Rachael Evans was the MVP.

Cross Country: Lex Hilton was the most outstanding male runner and David Aguinaga was the most improved male runner. Rafael Rosales won the male winged foot award. Lucy Rios was the most outstanding female runner and Lyndsay Anglin was the most improved female runner. Jennifer Martinez won the female winged foot award.

Football: Dakota Grigg was the outstanding offensive player of the year. Creel Roberts was the outstanding defensive player of the year. Alex Herrera won the Tiger Hustle award. Jose Hernandez was the MVP and Braden Smith won the Brandon Burlsworth award, which is given to the Tiger who shows character and sportsmanship both on and off the field.

Boys Basketball: The offensive player of the year was Clayton Smith and the defensive player of the year was Hayden Bailey. The hustle award went to Dakota Grigg and Caret Boggs was the sixth man of the year. Rhett Powell was the MVP. Smith and Powell each earned all-conference honors.

Girls Basketball: The outstanding offensive player of the year was Kelsey Phillips and the outstanding defensive player of the year was Daisy Padilla. The Hustle award went to Kendall DeMeyer and the Tiger leadership award went to Rachael Evans. The MVP was Ashley Farrar. Phillips and Farrar each earned all-conference honors.

Cheer: The leadership award went to Cheyenne Zimmerman. Kassidy Bell was the most spirited cheerleader and Chabree Bishop was the most outstanding cheerleader.

Baseball: The offensive player of the year was Trey Curbow. The defensive player of the year was Reiley Gordon. Hayden Bailey was the pitching leader. Ryan Logan won the Tiger Hustle award. Anthany Castillo was the most improved player and Dakota Grigg was the MVP.

Softball: The offensive MVP was Ashley Farrar and the defensive MVP was Trinity McMahan. Rachael Evans won the hustle award and Emily Becker won the leadership award.

Soccer: The boys offensive player of the year was Edson Merida and the boys defensive player of the year was Rafael Rosales. The Tiger hustle award went to Fredy Ortiz and Urbano Reyes. Jose Hernandez was the boys MVP. The offensive player of the year on the girls team was Kimberly Lopez. The defensive player of the year was Sully Mendoza. The Tiger hustle award went to Lopez. Emily Bolen and Viannei Rangel each received the most improved player award. Brook Wilson was most dedicated player and America Martinez was the MVP.

Track: Lex Hilton was the outstanding male distance runner. Braden Smith was the outstanding male sprinter. Carter Boggs was the male outstanding field events award winner. Hilton was the high point award winner. Gregg Wyatt won the winged foot award. Karina Maravillas was the outstanding female distance runner. Lyndsay Anglin was the outstanding mid-distance runner. Kassidy Bell was the outstanding female sprinter. Lexey Williams was the female outstanding field events award winner. Maravillas was the high point award winner. Bell won the winged foot award.

Matt Owens and Rachael Evans each won the Netta Stone Memorial Athletic Scholarship.
