David Lee Underdown, 67, of Osage, AR passed away in his home April 5, 2018. He was born December 12, 1950 at Osage son of the late Noah and Pauline (Hobbs) Underdown. David grew up in the Osage community and attended Alpena Schools. He had many fond family and childhood memories and loved telling stories about both. His favorite story was about his dad, Noah Underdown and grandpa, Abe Hobbs making rounds every Sunday in their old truck to pick up neighbors and friends to take them to church at Possum Trot. David recalled that sometimes the truck was so full he didn't know how it kept moving.
David served his country in the U.S. Army from 1970-1976. During the Vietnam Conflict he earned the following; Combat Infantry Badge, Marksman Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Expert Badge.
David was a welder,a farmer, a mechanic and was just a "jack of all trades". He was a devoted husband and father, but when he became a grandfather, that took on a whole new world for him. His grandchildren could pull on his heart strings any time they wanted. David had a lot of fond memories in his life and he left a lot of fond memories. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine Underdown of the home, son, Gary Underdown of Osage, daughter, Kimberly Underdown, granddaughters, LeeAnn Underdown and Tiffany Michelle Underdown, sister, Joyce Disheroon of Green Forest, Jerry Underdown of Green Forest, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one son, David Underdown Jr.
Celebration Of Life will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Plumlee Cemetery. Pastor Lannie Younger will officiate with interment following. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Monday, April 9, 2018 at Smith Family Funeral Home in Green Forest.
