BV board expels student over threats
The Berryville School Board voted at a special meeting Tuesday night to expel a student for making threats.
Superintendent Owen Powell said a middle school student made threats on social media on Wednesday, Feb. 14, and was taken into custody the next day.
In an announcement on the Berryville School District page on Facebook, Powell had said Berryville students and staff were not in danger at any time while the situation was being addressed.
“When school officials were made aware of the situation,” he said, “the student was taken into juvenile custody. At no time were the students or staff in harm’s way.”
Powell said the student had not been in possession of any weapons.
“The safety of our students and staff is a number one priority each day,” he said in the announcement. “We ask that everyone be diligent in observing conversations among our students and make school officials aware of any possible threats.”
