Mercy Ball returns Feb. 17

Mercy Hospital Berryville has set the date for its 15th annual Black and White Charity Ball, a fun-filled gala that has improved patient care in the community year after year.

The event will held Saturday, Feb. 17, at Inn of the Ozarks, located at 207 W. Van Buren in Eureka Springs. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Attendees will be treated to dinner, as well as live entertainment by country band Spa City Jumpers. There will also be live and silent auctions.

“We’re looking forward to another great night to benefit Mercy patients in Carroll County and beyond,” said Cody Qualls, executive director of Mercy Health Foundation Berryville. “For a decade and a half, the community support has been tremendous, leading to significant improvements and patient care.”

Last year, nearly $54,000 was raised to purchase a new stress test machine – or electrocardiogram. Hundreds of patients at Mercy Hospital Berryville undergo stress testing each year to pinpoint heart disease, irregular heartbeat or other cardiovascular issues.

“This year, we’re excited to buy a DSD Edge Machine,” Qualls said. “Basically it’s like a dishwasher for our endoscopy scopes, to clean them in between procedures.”

More than 20 sponsors have already pledged support for the gala.

In addition to last year’s stress test machine, the Black and White Charity Ball has funded patient stretchers in the Mercy emergency room, new laboratory microscopes, a variety of improvements to surgical care, including state-of-the-art patient monitors and colonoscopes, and much more.

“It’s hard to put into words how impactful this event has been,” Qualls said. “Over the years, we’ve purchased so much great technology, and it’s truly making a difference.”
