The Berryville Bobcats hosted the Bobcat Winter Blowout on Saturday at Bobcat Arena. As a team, the Bobcats finished sixth, but Cesar Martinez, Christian Lemus and Colton Record all won individual titles. Brett Parsons and Xavier Hand each finished fourth.

Coach Derrek Aynes had hoped for a higher overall finish, but he was proud of some of the individual performances.

"It's good for them to hopefully get their confidence up as we start rolling toward the duals and state championship," Aynes said.

Aynes believes his team gained a lot from Saturday's tournament.

"We know where we are sitting now," Aynes said. "We have got a couple really good wrestlers and others who are pretty good that we are still working on and getting better. It's nice to know where we sit as we move on."

Individual results from Saturday's tournament are as follows:

120: Berryville's Dylan Sperduto lost both matches he competed in.

126: Berryville's Kole Disheroon was pinned in his first match, but he went on to pin his final two opponents on Saturday.

132: Cesar Martinez won his first match by forfeit. Martinez went on to pin his next four opponents and win the 132-pound championship.

145: Berryville's Carlos Escobar and Brett Parsons each competed in the 145-pound weight division. Escobar was pinned in his first match, but he pinned Trevin Waltrip in the following match. Parsons defeated Escobar 7-0 in the consolation semifinals, but lost to Bryce Clark of Glendale in the third-place match.

152: Berryville's Kevin Perez was pinned in both of his matches.

160: Berryville's John Barrios was pinned in both of his matches.

170: Berryville's Raphael Perez was pinned in his first match, but he went on to pin Ian Friese of Glendale before being pinned in the consolation semifinals.

195: Christian Lemus pinned his first opponent and defeated Shiloh Christian's Aaron Dewitt in the semifinals, 11-8. Lemus pinned Gentry's Garrett Hays to win the championship.

285: Colton Record and Xavier Hand each competed in the 285-pound weight division. Record pinned five of his opponents and defeated Har-Ber's Elisamuel Ramos 4-0 to win the championship. Hand pinned Ramos and defeated Dante Pellin 3-0 to finish fourth.

On Thursday, Berryville will host Gentry before taking part in the Greenbrier tournament over the weekend.

"We will have a good test on Thursday against Gentry because they have a lot of good wrestlers," Aynes said. "It will be our senior night. And then moving on to the meet this weekend, we will get to see a lot of guys our size that we will see at the state tournament. We have already seen them once at the Pulaski tournament, but it will be good to see them again and see if we have gotten any better since then."

Aynes said he would like to thank all of the volunteers who helped make the Bobcat Winter Blowout possible.
