BV ready for Pulaski tournament
The Berryville wrestling team traveled to Springdale on Monday to take on Shiloh Christian and Bentonville West. The Bobcats defeated Shiloh Christian, as the Saints don't have a full team to compete, and Bentonville West beat the Bobcats in a close match. Coach Derrek Aynes is pleased with how things went overall on Monday.
"Christian Lemus and Brett Parsons really wrestled well on Monday," Aynes said. "They won both of their matches. It was just good to see the guys get more mat time and more experience. That's what they need most right now."
This weekend, Berryville is competing in the Pulaski Academy tournament. The Bobcats will be wrestling against the likes of Greenbrier, Little Rock McClellan, Glen Rose and Arkadelphia. These are all teams Berryville will see at the state wrestling tournament in a month.
"We will have a better feel for where we are at right now and where we stand in comparison to those other guys," Aynes said. "I hope to see the guys do really well in their respective classes and win a few matches. Just get in the winners bracket and see how high we can end up placing."
