Winter fun: Crescent ice rink opens
A brand-new way for guests of and visitors to the 1886 Crescent Hotel & Spa to make lifetime memories will saw its grand opening Friday, Jan. 5.
The Crescent Hotel Ice Skating Rink, which has been open for several days, is hosted its official ribbon cutting ceremonies, and free SkyBar Gourmet Pizza was served at the event. This marks the first “open skate” at the rink, a daily occurrence (weather permitting) every evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. now through the end of February. This open skate allows local children, ages 12 and under, from Carroll County to skate for free. All adults and all teens, as well as children who live outside the specified local area, will be charged $5 each per day. For all hotel guests, adults and children, the fee is included in their Crescent Hotel Resort Pass.
There are a limited number of skates available for rent, included with admission, and up to 20 skaters can be on the ice at any time.
Jack Moyer, hotel vice president and general manager, noted that individuals wishing to donate skates to this community project will receive a 2018 season pass for free skating. He also mentioned that the rink would be available at other times, based on availability, for private parties with the booking of such events made through the hotel’s sales office. The 1886 Crescent Hotel & Spa is located atop Crescent Mountain on the Historic Loop at 75 Prospect Ave.
