BV gains experience in Bentonville meet
The Berryville Bobcat wrestling team didn't get the results it was looking for at the Northwest Arkansas Tournament in Bentonville over the weekend, but racking up wins wasn't the main concern for coach Derrek Aynes.
"It's good anytime you go against guys just as good or better than them, so that they can see what their weaknesses are," Aynes said.
Brett Parsons went 4-2 over the weekend in the 145-pound weight class, which was good enough for a seventh-place finish. Christian Lemus went 4-3 in the 182-pound weight class, which was also good enough for a seventh-place finish. Colton Record went 5-2 over the weekend in the 285-pound weight class and finished in fourth place.
Berryville has another tournament this coming weekend in Maumelle. Aynes believes the Bobcats will be one of the smaller schools there, meaning they will have an opportunity to see plenty of competition.
"I think we will be able to compete a little better in this one," Aynes said. "The one in Bentonville was a bigger tournament."
Before the tournament begins Friday, Berryville has a home match Thursday against Gentry. This is the second home match of the year for Berryville, something Aynes is looking forward to.
"It's going to be good, not just for home field advantage, but not having to ride a bus for two hours," Aynes said. "Have some fresh legs and be comfortable in front of people we know. It will be good for us."
The match starts at 6 p.m.
