Franklin Dewitt Gage, of Green Forest, Ark. was born Oct. 5, 1944 in Rudd, Ark., son of Vancil and Connie (Neal) Gage. He departed this life Nov. 16, 2017 in Springfield, Mo. at the age of 73 years, surrounded by family.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army and Arkansas National Guard. He enlisted in the Army in July 1965 at the age of 20. He served as an aircraft mechanic in Vietnam until June 1967. In 1974, he enlisted with the Arkansas National Guard, serving 30 years with the 142nd Field Artillery Brigade, where his final title was Sergeant First Class.
On Oct. 18, 1968 he was united in marriage with Sara (Smith) Gage, who survives him of the home. He is also survived by his children, Sandy and Karl Cartmell of Hindsville, Ark.; Debbie and Jerry Norris of Green Forest, Ark.; Brian Gage of Harrison, Ark.; and Robin Heithold of Oklahoma; Grandchildren: Jennifer Dillard and Jon Cartmell of Huntsville, Ark.; Kayla and Kris Worrall, Michael Norris, Jerod and Elizabeth Norris of Green Forest; Makensie Gage of Harrison; Carson Gage of the home; Cale Heithold, Elizabeth Heithold, Tyler Coatney and Hayley Coatney, all of Berryville, Ark. Great-grandchildren, Austin Dillard and Kaylee Cartmell of Huntsville; Jordon Worrall of Berryville; Kylee, Brantley and Ava Worrall and James and Catherine Norris, all of Green Forest; and Olen Norris of Elkins, W.Va. Honorary grandchildren, Stephanie Pittman, Brian Clark and Sara Clark, all of Green Forest. He is also survived by brothers, Duane Gage of Bartlesville, Okla.; Tom Gage, Randy Gage, Ricky Gage and Ronnie Gage, all of Berryville; sisters, Sandy Smith of Berryville and Patsy Sims of Pace, Fla.; numerous nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, James Faye Gage, Lester (Red) Gage, Wanda Tumbleson, Dorothy Turner and Barbara Gage.
Visitation will be 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017 at Nelsonís Green Forest Chapel, Green Forest, Ark. Graveside service and interment will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017 at the Moore Cemetery with Brother Benny Clark officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.
