The city of Berryville began its annual fall leaf and limb pickup this week.

The Berryville City Council discussed the annual pickup at its Tuesday council meeting, noting that city employees will be collecting leaves and limbs throughout the month of November. City administrative assistant Jay Lee said city employees will take a different route in the city each week.

The citywide pickup will run through the first week of December, he said.

“Now is the time to be raking leaves and getting them to the curb so they’re ready for us to come by with the vacuum machine,” Lee said. “Residents can call City Hall, and we can tell them what route they’re on.”

Limbs should be placed at the curb or the edge of the street in manageable bundles, all facing the same direction if possible. Bundles no bigger than nine inches in diameter on the largest end will be picked up. This program is for miscellaneous limbs that fall because of storms and time, not for complete tree removal. The service is provided for residential city addresses only, not commercial properties.

The council’s next regular meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, 21, at City Hall.
