George W. Bailey, age 64, of Green Forest, Ark. passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017. He was born April 6, 1953 in Harrison, son of the late Harland and Oza Vick (Snow) Bailey.
He grew up in the Osage community along with his five brothers and five sisters and attended Alpena Schools. George entered the service in the early 70ís and served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict.
He was a hard worker and had worked in construction for a number of companies including, Crouse Construction and Bailey Concrete Company. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he especially enjoyed playing with his grandkids. George was a loving, devoted father, grandfather and brother.
Survivors include his children, Shelli Bailey of Delight, Ark., Ty Cantwell and wife Jamie of Alpena, Shana Bailey of Harrison, Peyton Bailey of Berryville, Justin Bailey of Benton; grandchildren, Dylan, Skylar, Destiny, Lanie and Annabella Bailey, Kaden Coburn, Taylar Cantwell; brothers, Ronnie Bailey and wife Lucille of Alpena, Binkey Bailey of Alpena, Corkey Bailey and wife Wanda of Osage; sisters, Faye Smothers and husband Kenney of Green Forest, Bobbie Young and husband John of Arizona, Paulette Bailey of Harrison, also a number of other family and a host of friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Timmy and Harvey Bailey and sisters, Billy Wilcox and Jean Starkey.
Celebration of Life Service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6, 2017 at Smith Family Funeral Home in Green Forest with Pastor Lannie Younger officiating. Interment will follow at Alpena Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017 at the funeral home.
