FSA hay and pasture deadline is Nov. 15
The Carroll County Farm Service Agency (FSA) reminds producers that Nov. 15, 2017, is the deadline to report your 2018 perennial forage acres without penalty. Producers who do not report their hay and pasture acres by this deadline will be subject to late-filed fees for program eligibility. It is also the sales closing deadline for 2018 Non-insured Assistance Program (NAP) coverage on your hay and pasture acres.
Producers will need to visit the Carroll FSA Office to make their acreage reports. Producers who want to insure their crops against drought and other weather-related disasters, will also need to pay the $250 per crop administrative fee. Administrative fees can be waived for beginning, limited resource, or traditionally underserved producers. Contact FSA for more information about administrative fee waivers.
County Executive Director Scott Fancher says “he hopes farmers won’t wait until the last minute, especially if there have been any changes to their farming operation from previous years.”
Fancher recommends calling ahead of time so his office can have documents ready when a producer arrives. “Appointments make things a lot easier on us and save our customers a lot of time” he says.
Producers with questions about acreage reports or drought insurance can contact the Carroll FSA Office by phone to (870) 423-2638 or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org. They can also visit the office at 909A Freeman Switch Road in Berryville.
