The Berryville Bobcat Lady volleyball team traveled to Hollister, Mo., to compete in a tournament on Saturday in which they finished second. Berryville coach Kristin Whetham is proud of the way her team performed, but wishes the Lady Bobcats would have seen some better competition.

"We won our pool with relative ease and so we got to play Hollister in the first round of the tournament," Whetham said. "And Hollister is a really good team. We ended up losing that first set and came back and winning the next two sets. That put us in the championship game against Marshfield."

The Lady Bobcats lost to Marshfield, but Whetham said her team played hard.

"We didn't play bad at all; we played well," Whetham said. "It just didn't seem like there was anything we could do to stop them."

The Lady Bobcats had to play short-handed on Saturday. Whetham said it was good to move some players around that way the Lady Bobcats will know how to respond if they face any adversity at the state tournament.

"For not having one of our starters and then our next man in, I thought we played pretty well," Whetham said.

The Lady Bobcats had three road matches this week to close the regular season. Two of those are conference matches against Prairie Grove and Pea Ridge.

"We always want to win, but if we are going to lose, I would rather it be this week than next week in the district tournament or the state tournament," Whetham said. "I have been looking at opponents Prairie Grove has played. I know Pea Ridge, Gravette and Huntsville all beat them. I think we have a good chance there if we are ready to go. Pea Ridge will probably be the toughest game on the road this week just because they are tough to beat at home. Last year we did beat them at their place, but it took us five sets. Winning all three games this week will guarantee us the number two seed in the district tournament."

Berryville travels to Eureka Springs on Tuesday. The match is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
