BV needs a win on homecoming
After scoring 61 points in the opening game of the season, Berryville has scored 20 points in the four games since. The Bobcats have been shut out three times.
Berryville plays host to Lincoln (1-4, 0-2 4A-1) for homecoming on Friday night, and the Bobcats are in desperate need of a win.
"It's homecoming week," Berryville coach Doug Shott said. "We are excited for that and ready to go play some football."
Despite Lincoln only having one win, Shott knows the Wolves are a good team. Lincoln lost to Mansfield by three points in a non-conference game and was within 15 points of Pea Ridge last week.
"They have a big quarterback," Shott said. "He doesn't run like (Gentry quarterback Jon) Faulkenberry, but I think this kid made all-conference at running back the last two years and he has gotten better at throwing. He has several good receivers to throw to. They give us reason for concern, but it's a ballgame we expect to compete in."
Sterling Morphis has two tall wide receivers to throw the ball to in Cameron Brown and Braden Umberson.
(Brown) is a tight end, he plays H-back in their spread and the other one, (Umberson), I think he was their leading receiver last year," Shott said. "He is a pretty good size kid. He is a lockdown corner for them on defense. They spread the ball pretty well to them."
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
