Inspiration Point Fire Department was dispatched to a motorcycle accident Saturday afternoon on U.S. Highway 62. The accident occurred just west of Look Bar Lane (old Kinetico Road). A motorcycle left the highway on the south side, stopping about 50 feet down into the ravine. A low angle rope recovery system was used to bring both riders up to the highway. They were loaded into a Eureka Springs Fire Department ambulance and transported to IPFD Station 2. Two air ambulances were waiting at Station 2 to transport them to a trauma hospital. During this incident an eastbound black SUV crashed into one of the vehicles stopped in traffic. The SUV fled at a high rate of speed, barely missing an IP traffic director. It then sped through the motorcyle accident scene, crashing through traffic cones. The SUV was later located abandoned at the Inspiration Point Overlook. No one was injured in the hit and run incident. The Arkansas State Police are now in possession of the vehicle.
