CLAY DUANE STANDLEE, of Berryville, Arkansas, born July 2, 1933 in Grove, Oklahoma, son of Elbert and Lucy (Ray) Standlee. He departed this life after a short stay in Cox Medical Center in Branson, Missouri on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 84 years of age.


A long-time resident of the Boyd community, Clay retired from hanging and finishing dry wall and then he pursued his dream of operating a cattle farm. He and his wife enjoyed sharing farm duties and many of his happiest days were spent running the farm.


On March 2, 1952, he was united in marriage to his wife of 65 years, Winnie "Berniece" (Swofford) Standlee, who survives him. He is also survived by his six children, daughter, Kathy and husband, Buddy Compton, of Bradleyville, Missouri; daughter, Debbie and husband, Paul Fravel, of Springfield, Missouri; son, Kendel Standlee of Lexington, Kentucky; son, Jerry and wife, Beth (Hatfield), of North Richland Hills, Texas; daughter, Lisa and husband, Mark Grogan, of St Louis, Missouri; daughter, Jonie Standlee of Berryville; twelve grandchildren, Buddy Ray Compton, Kim (Compton)Davidson, Kevin Compton, Andrew Fravel, Justin Fravel, David Fravel, Leslie Standlee, Amanda Standlee, Jordan Standlee, Brittany (Grogan) McCarty, Kelsey Grogan, Mark Grogan, Jr.; nine great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.


Clay was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Clell and Willard and infant sister Willie Marie.


Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Boyd Church, Oak Grove, Arkansas. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at the Boyd Church with Reverend Gene Plumlee and Brother Elbert Standlee officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Hale Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service, Inc.
